Exhaust air purification by concentration in the zeolite rotor

XPURIS AWP
ADSORPTION WHEEL PURIFIER

The AWP system purifies the exhaust air through a combination of adsorption on a zeolite rotor and catalytic oxidation.

HOW DOES THE AWP PROCESS WORK?

The AWP process is a highly efficient and useful method for concentrating and cleaning large exhaust gas flows, which is very efficient and has low energy consumption. The process is particularly suitable for applications with high volume flows and medium to low VOC concentrations. The procedure consists of three main steps.

ADSORPTION

The contaminated air flows over an adsorption wheel, which absorbs the pollutants at relatively low temperatures. This purifies the main air flow directly.

DESORPTION

The wheel is cleaned with hot fresh air in the next section. The pollutants are removed by the wheel using a smaller air flow. The highly contaminated air then flows into the downstream ACP cleaning system.

OXIDATION

The concentrated exhaust gas is completely purified in the catalytic ACP oxidation process. The heat energy generated is recovered and the purified exhaust air is fed back into the clean main air flow.

EXHAUST AIR PURIFICATION
BY CONCENTRATION IN THE ZEOLITE ROTOR

The AWP process consists of three main steps:

1. Adsorption
 - Dedusted and dehumidified exhaust air containing VOC
- Air comes into contact with zeolite material and is cold-absorbed there
- Purified air leaves the wheel and enters the chimney via the fan
2. Desorption
 - A smaller flow of fresh air is initially preheated in the wheel
- The desorbing air is finally heated to the desorption temperature of 200° and enters the desorption area of the rotor
- This desorbing air adsorbs the pollutants from the zeolite material and leaves the wheel for ACP
3. Oxidation
 - Hot air contaminated with VOC enters the ACP oxidation process
- This is where the catalytic oxidation of the VOC takes place
- A large part of the energy from the hot exhaust gas is recovered via the heat recovery unit and fed into the cold fresh air
- Purified and cooled air exits the ACP and is fed back into the main flow of clean air
